Open House Chicago at Nicky’s of Beverly

Nicky’s of Beverly was selected to participate in a citywide celebration of architecture, and we can’t wait! We are among six locations in our neighborhood and more than 150 sites across the city that will be showcased as part of Open House Chicago October 15–16, 2022. OHC is a free public festival that celebrates the cultural diversity and dynamic history of Chicago and the unique character of its neighborhoods through the city’s buildings.

We will celebrate Open House Chicago from 10 am to 5 pm on Saturday and Sunday, October 15 and 16. Our architect, Joe Carroll of CMMR, LLC, will be on hand to talk about the unique design he developed with Nicky’s owner Paul Kostopanagiotou for our new location that opened at 105th and Western in January 2021. OHC selected Nicky’s for our unusual building materials and the unique ways in which we connected the interior and outdoor spaces.

Visitors will be invited to take self-guided tours through the restaurant and onto the patio, where live music will be playing (weather permitting).

In the parking lot and garage area behind Nicky’s, our friends at the Beverly Area Arts Alliance (“the Alliance”) will have plenty to see and do. They operate an art gallery and event space called Alliance Contemporary in the former garage. Alliance Contemporary is the product of a long-time partnership between Nicky’s and the Alliance. The two organizations have continued to support each other and local artists in various ways since 2015.

This relationship has led to Nicky’s of Beverly becoming an oasis of art—on the walls inside the restaurant; on murals throughout the property, and as a community gathering space. Currently on view at Alliance Contemporary- the raw, fascinating and energetic works of Rick Therrio, Brendan McAlinden, Xena Lopez, Daniel Estep, Matthias “Spider” Schergen, Sinead Talty, NiBu, Nate Otto and RoseRita Walsh James.

Artist John Colson will be signing copies of his whimsical new book Fish Hats inside Alliance Contemporary. Local Chicago artists Won Kim and others will be live painting.
